WW2
13th Oct 2020
Room 4 enjoyed making Anderson Shelters from clay and then gas masks. We’ve been learning about both in our WW2 topic.
We know that Anderson Shelters were used for protection during the air raids/ the Blitz. They were made from corrugated iron and were often located in the garden. Vegetables were planted on top so that from the air the gardens wouldn’t look any different.
We learned that gas masks were given to every British person but they weren’t ever used. The government thought there would be gas attacks as there were in WW1 and they wanted everyone to be prepared.
We have a civilian gas mask in school and an army gas mask 😀
