Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

19th Nov 2022

Room 5 children had a great day at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.
In our Victorian topic we’re learning about the Industrial Revolution and the creation of the railway and his that changed transport forever as before hand transport was horse-drawn carriages. Seeing the different trains and engines and having the opportunity to board them was amazing and learning the carriages for different classes.

We also had an innovative tour with the curator of the museum and learnt how things have evolved down through the years. We learned how transport had changed farming and lots of the girls enjoyed seeing the horses and farming exhibition. We also enjoyed learning about invention of pneumatic tyres in bicycles etc and the ejector seat in military planes. We also enjoyed the cars and trams section and seeing how cars had evolved, seeing the DeLorean (and how it was produced in NI) and the flight section and Titanic exhibition too and realising how air and sea travel have also changed in the last century. The Titanic was also built in NI so it was great to see not just how transport has transformed over the years but also how some of those transformations took place in Northern Ireland.
