Yesterday Room 5 enjoyed a visit from Karis’ mum, Laura.
Laura is a Speech and Language Therapist and she came into to tell us about her role. She told us about the difference between expressive and receptive language. The children used PEC boards and Laura explained how this can be used as a method of communication. They enjoyed communicating which sweet they wanted!!
The boys and girls also learnt some Makaton to communicate and Laura showed them basic signs. We were very interested as we’ve learning about communication in our inventors topic.
