♥️♥️♥️ Roots of Empathy Programme ♥️♥️♥️
We are so delighted that we were selected to participate in this wonderful programme. After a long wait due to Covid and some rigorous training for our instructor, Mrs Hammond, we are delighted that the programme is now up and running with our Room 2 children.
Nurture is at the centre of our school ethos and this programme reflects that ♥️ Over a number of weeks the children get to connect with a baby and it’s parents. ‘Through guided observation the children label the baby’s feelings and intentions, learning the affective aspect of empathy and about emotions. In Roots of Empathy, emotional literacy develops as children begin to identify and label the baby’s feelings, reflect on and understand their own feelings, then bridge to understand the feelings of others.’
Through the activities our pupils are given opportunities to discuss their feelings and listen to the feelings of others. Mrs Hammond also visits the classroom to deliver activities in preparation for and in reflection of the activities of the Family Visit. These visits deepen the development of emotional awareness in our children, helping them to build connections and healthy relationships.
Room 2 have really enjoyed their first session and we look forward to experience the positive impact it will have in our children. 🥰🥰
