Remembrance Day
9th Nov 2024
In Room 5 this week, children have been thinking about Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. We went to visit the Cenotaph in Castledawson to consider those that gave their lives during the World Wars and we talked about the ways we can remember. Many boys and girls will take part in services this weekend and many wear poppies to remember. We have been selling poppies to raise money for the Poppy Appeal and we learnt when the Royal British Legion’s first poppy factory opened.
‘Respect’ is our school value this month so we discussed what it means to pay respect and show reverence during our visit to the Cenotaph and during services of remembrance. As always, our children do us proud ❤️

Room 5 children have also created poppy collages and are planting a poppy garden in school. It’s not quite finished yet as we are still preparing the soil but some photos will follow next week of the planting.
