Preparing for Christmas
In our play this week children have been thinking about the importance of the Christmas tree in our celebrations. They have helped decorate the tree, made paper chains and their own holly wreaths for the door whilst observing and touching holly and a variety of evergreen leaves. We are counting down the days to Christmas using our Advent calendar and the children used 2CA story app to draw pictures and record a caption about their favourite Christmas image. They have set up the dolls house and worked together to make their own Christmas Eve stories. Their creativity has extended into block and dough play with some very interesting trees made using dough and loose parts. In the water tray children have been fishing for Christmas baubles counting, creating sets and comparing lengths of Christmas ribbon. These are just a few of the activities in our busy play sessions which allow us to extend learning. The highlight this week must have been Santa visiting in his helicopter.😍
