In class we have been examining area. We took our learning outside to find out which fairytale character owned each footprint. To solve the problem we had to compare footprints and find the footprint which had exactly the same area as the one labelled with the owner’s picture. Children worked in pairs to find and record the information. This was a very active lesson which the children loved.
Inside we ordered footprints according to area and compared the area covered using cubes to confirm our thinking.
