P2 are learning to use their knowledge of the doubles to solve addition sums. They can quickly recall number facts for the doubles such as 8+8= 16. Using this knowledge they have been solving addition problems for near doubles such as 8+9 = reasoning that if 8+8=16 then 8+9 is 1 more so the answer is 17.
We took our learning outdoors to practise our calculating,searching for and recording our ideas. It was fun hunting for the problems to solve and the boys all want to try this again.
