Outdoor Learning Day
17th May 2018
Room 2 took our classroom and learning outside today. We have been learning about wildlife both under the sea and in the jungle. Today we wanted to know how sharks, even though they are so heavy, do not sink. We made two water bottles into sharks using two bottles the same size with the same amount of water in one and oil in the other. When we dropped the bottle filled with water into the basin of water, it sank. When we dropped the bottle filled with oil into the basin, it sank! So we discovered sharks actually have a liver filled with an oily substance and this contributes to sharks being able to be buoyant!
