Our Wellbeing Day
Today the children had a Wellbeing Day in school which included lots of fun activities. We shared the story of the “Gingerbread Man” which has a similar repetitive language pattern to that of “The Runaway Pancake.” Children completed mindfulness colouring sheets linked to the story or drew their own designs on gingerbread men. They decorated and ate gingerbread men as a treat.
After break the class carried out an investigation to find out if water was the only liquid the gingerbread man should avoid. We had to check that conditions were fair measuring the same amount of liquid in each container and using the same biscuits. After 30minutes children observed that the gingerbread man dissolved in milk, water, orange and coke while there was no change in the cooking oil. So we concluded that the gingerbread man would be safe if it fell into oil!
Outdoors we had some fun with our friends completing an outdoor trail looking for gingerbread men. We used our observational skills to find specific numbers and to copy the words recorded on each gingerbread man.
After lunch we relaxed with a movie chosen by the children. 🙂
