Room 1 have been enjoying our winter themed play linked to our new topic Once Upon A time. Through our literacy we explored the story of “The Snow Queen.” We used this as a stimulus for our play. The children have enjoyed using wooden blocks to create winter palaces for the Snow Queen characters or Elsa’s friends. They have had the opportunity to play in our own snow palace and have created their own snowy day tales using the small world house and town set. We have made snow and created loose part snowflakes. Children have had fun using orbeez and ice in the water tray exploring capacity and observing change. They have had opportunities to express their ideas painting pictures, using the iPad and modelling snowmen in model magic. We had great fun creating our own pop up fairy tale characters as part of our technology challenge identifying the push and pull needed to make this work.
