Today the children in R5 carried out a mummification experiment on an apple!!
We have been learning about the mummification process of the Ancient Egyptians which is pretty gruesome! We’ve been learning about each stage and how preserving bodies was so important to Ancient Egyptians as they believed they needed them for the afterlife.
The key ingredient was natron (salt) which dries out the body so we used a salt solution for mummifying our apple earlier! Now we’ve left it for a week and can’t wait to see the results after half-term.
Meanwhile, we’ve been watering our plants from a couple of weeks ago and are going out into the polytunnel tomorrow to observe any changes. 🌱
