Let’s Investigate
15th Mar 2024
This is British Science week with a focus on “time.” In school we have been learning about the important work scientists and explorers have been doing in Antarctica. We have looked at penguins and learnt how their bodies cope with the cold. Like polar bears they have extra fat but they also have waterproof feathers which means the cold water runs off. Our challenge was to keep a paper penguin dry. The children experimented with crayon or cellotape and watched how the water droplets ran off the penguins covered in cellotape. We concluded that waterproof feathers would help penguins stay dry.
