Learning through play
Room 1 have had fun this month exploring cold weather here. Not deterred by the lack of snow we put on our safety goggles and experimented making our own. We used puffy paint to create images of melting snowmen and model magic to build our own. The children enjoyed shopping for winter clothes and designing new hats and jumpers using pattern. We looked at the symmetrical shapes found all around us and examined the beautiful symmetry found in snowflakes. The children problem solved to join and create their own paper snowflakes. They have developed their counting and fine motor skills playing a variety of snowball games. We have thought about the difficulties caused by cold weather clearing snow and role played a cold winter’s day using the our small world home. Our new Ice Rink role play area is proving very popular and requires great balance and coordination to skate!!
