Healthy Lifestyles Week
On Monday room 1 explored healthy eating creating their own healthy lunch boxes. We watched an interactive story and joined in singing about healthy foods.
Our focus today was all about keeping our bodies healthy through good personal hygiene. Children were able to share their ideas about how to keep clean through hand washing, washing our teeth, showering or bathing regularly and wearing clean clothes.
After break we investigated how clean our hands were using wipes to check. We discussed how even though our hands look clean germs are so small that we would need a microscope to see them. We then explored how easy it is for germs to spread using flour. One pupil managed to leave a trace of flour on lots of others this lead us to conclude that it is very important to wash our hands before and after eating, playing outside, touching pets and visiting the toilet to keep everyone healthy.
During play we explored healthy hygiene habits further completing puzzles with this focus. In the water tray we added germs to plastic gloves using whiteboard markers and washed these off with good hand washing.😀
