Gortatole Day 2
Today was another amazing day on our residential trip.
The groups took part in various activities: canoeing, archery/ bushcraft and the climbing wall.
The climbing wall was such an amazing experience. So many children climbed for the first time and set themselves personal goals about how far they felt they could climb. Then they exceeded their expectations! They learnt how climbing isn’t just about strength but about coordination and watching your feet and hands and problem-solving your body movements.
We spent a wonderful morning on the Lough kayaking and canoeing. Children got to experience both and learn how to paddle as well as jump in and launch their kayaks off the jetty.
Our other groups were learning archery and we had some brilliant fun during a competition for points. We then experimented with some bush craft and fire lighting and lit little fires to boil water and then toasted yummy marshmallows.
We returned to the centre for tea (a delicious roast chicken dinner) and then had some chill time before our evening activity of team games! We also enjoyed a lovely bbq and having some fun in the sun!
We really are having the best time!
