As part of Fairtrade Fortnight we completed activities in class to raise awareness of the importance of buying Fairtrade items. Children quickly identified what was fair as we shared sweets. We then examined some images on the interactive board which helped us to realise the importance of farmers getting a fair price for their food. A Fairtrade song helped us to identify the logo and some Fairtrade items to buy. The class worked in two different groups to make Fairtrade buns to sell in school and then made either a Fairtrade poster or used labels to name Fairtrade items. The children should be able to spot the label and encourage you to choose Fairtrade items when out shopping.🙂
