Children have the right to….

13th Jan 2025
In room 5, we talked about crime and punishment as we came to the end of our Victorian topic. Each child had the experience of a few minutes of the types of punishment there would have been for children during the Victorian Era. Children would have endured these exercises for 6-8 hours a day as punishment. This linked to our rights and we talked about article 31 which says that children and young people have the right to have fun in the way they want to, whether by playing sports, watching films, or doing something else entirely. They have the right to rest, too. We talked about how different things were for children during that era compared to now.
