We explored ordinal number today with the help of some balloons. Initially we created a pattern with the balloons and then looked at the position of different balloons in our line. The addition of music provided the opportunity to dance and take turns with the balloons. As the music stopped the children were challenged to get in order reading the label on their balloon. They were able to make the link between position and number working together to order balloons from 1st to 10th. We followed this up with a birthday cake ordering activity linked to age.
