Room 1 met Zak the Zebra and learned his Road Safety Message that roads are for vehicles and pavements are for people. Following our safe cycling talk we took our learning outdoors to find out more about vehicles on our roads. We looked at the size of the different vehicles parked in our car park. Primary 1 counted and recorded the different sizes of the cars parked while Primary 2 measured the length of the vehicles using non standard measurements. We took time to consider if cars can see us when they are driving or reversing. One of the children stood behind the largest car and we all agreed that the driver would not see them although the reversing camera might. We felt our squidgy tummies and compared this to the hard body of a car. We know we need to take care out on the roads as cars can hurt us.
