PANTS Programme

19th Jun 2018

As a follow up from our NSPCC visit, Room 1 and 2 took part in the PANTS Programme led by Mrs Evans using lessons devised by NSPCC. We discussed different types of touch, both positive and negative. We spoke about how sometimes adults need to touch as this will keep us safe, for example, crossing the road or when we go to the doctors. We learnt that pants cover our private parts which we should keep private, talked about who we can trust and never to keep secrets that upset us. Here is the acrostic rhyme to help us remember the main points from the lesson...

Privates are private

Always remember that your body belongs to you

No means no

Talk about secrets that upset you

Speak up, someone can help

This is an important message as it links to our preventative curriculum and is linked to article 19 from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. (You have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body and mind)
